Alps Voyage 2018

So what can you expect on this year’s extended adventure? Well, we’ll start off in Marseilles on July 21st and then head out to Bedoin, and check into our hotel.  From there you can walk around the village while we get your bikes un-boxed and ready to ride. We should be able to go for a little spin to push some of the Jet-lag out of our legs before having a fine meal and a good night’s rest. As you may already know, this is the village at the base of Mont Ventoux. What could be a better way to start your Voyage in France than to climb the historic Mont Ventoux?!

imageWe will want to be on our bikes early to attack the “Giant of Provence.” The valley gets very warm in July, but cools considerably as we climb our way to the top. After the climb of Ventoux and descent back into the valley, we will pack up , and head to the village of Sainte-Eulaie-en-Royans for the evening . On Sunday we will do a nice loop that includes one of the most breathtaking views in the area: the climb of the Col de la Machine. It’s a ” Bal cony road ” that offer s spectacular vistas.

After our ride, we will head off for the “official” start of the 2017 Alps Adventure: The Le Cassini Hotel, in Freney d’Oisans. This is where our past Alps adventures have begun because it’s such an ideal location. Situated halfway between Les Duex Alpes and Alpe d’Huez, Le Cassini is a great launching pad for so many excursions.

Experience the 21 turns of l’Alpe d’Huez and the stunning view of the balconies of Auris and La Berarde. Not only will you be impressed by the climbs and view of this area, you’ll also appreciate the hospitality of the Hotel Le Cassini  and their passion for exquisite food.

Our first transfer day will begin with the climb of the Col du Lautaret, 28k with a max of 7 percent. Then onto the Col du Galibier, a short 8.5k climb with outstanding views. At the top you will have an 18k descent to the base of the Col du Telegraphe, then a mild 5k to the top. Once there, we will head downhill to our new home base, Hotel St. George, in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. Two locations, great rides down every road!

There just isn’t enough time and space to talk about all the great experiences that await. A few pictures will have to do:

Don’t hesitate to contact us for any questions!

If two-weeks is too long, the usual 10-day trip is still available, arriving in and departing from Lyon.
