Pyrenees Playground 2018

Every year, the trip of a lifetime just keeps getting better and better. Our past adventures have led us down so many memorable roads and up so many famous mountains. And this year looks to be one of our best trips yet!

Our Pyrenees Playground trip always tries in some way to capture the great Pyrenees climbs of the Tour de France. The Tourmalet. Plateau de Beille. Aspin. Ancizan. Col d’Agnes. Col de Port. Luz Ardiden. Aubisque. Cauterets. This year we’ll be fortunate enough to pre-ride stages 12 and 13 of the 2017 Tour de France, which you can read all about here:

Stage 12 – 2017 Tour de France

Stage 13 – 2017 Tour de France

We limit our stays to just a few choice locations, centrally located so that we can jump off to any number of fantastic routes. We typically get a good day’s riding in and then settle into an evening of superb food and wine at our favorite hotels and restaurants. The great thing about traveling with us is that we’ve cultivated so many positive relationships over the years that your local hosts want to make your trip as memorable as we do. We always say that each day is just a little bit better than the last.

Aside from riding the greatest roads you’ll ever ride on, and encountering the most gracious drivers on the planet, you can also put yourself on any number of non-biking excursions while you’re traveling with us. The hiking in the Pyrenees is fantastic. Visit the prehistoric cave paintings at Niaux or the destroyed Cathar castles. The mountain tops are green and rolling, with little undergrowth to impede your path. You can literally walk off road for days across what look to be manicured greens. Every town, no matter how small, has its own pride and history. There are shops, ancient churches and cathedrals, historical landmarks . . . and the people of the Pyrenees can be so warm and welcoming. Paris, this is not.

For those interested in a racing/event adventure, this year’s L’Ariegeoise and Expo should more than do the trick.

L’Ariégeoise Cyclosportive

It’s a festive atmosphere with real racing as an option if you want it…and riding at your own pace, if you don’t. There are over 5,000 riders from 20 different countries on closed roads through some of the most spectacular routes in the Pyrenees. Great fun!
